Curator for KAA/Navet

The mission of the Education and Labor Market Administration is to increase individuals' opportunities to find work and become self-sufficient through education, practical training, and employment.

Adult education offers courses and training in various ways based on individual needs. Adult education includes, among other things, upper secondary adult education, Swedish for immigrants, special education for adults, vocational training, higher vocational education, and learning center activities.

The municipalities' activity responsibility (KAA) targets young people aged 16-19 who are not attending high school or have completed their studies with incomplete grades.

The mission is to identify the target group, contact the young people, and offer support that primarily motivates them to study, and secondarily to other meaningful activities.

Navet is a project area within the project Young Future, which runs until June 2026 and targets young people aged 16-24 who are neither studying nor working. Navet consists of KAA for 16-19-year-olds and UVAS for 16-24-year-olds and offers individualized support to help young people approach studies or work.

The curator is permanently employed in KAA but is also part of Navet during the project period and works with the entire target group aged 16-24.

What You Will Do

As a curator at KAA/Navet, you will work with young people who are outside of studies and the labor market aged 16-24. The purpose of the role is to empower young people, create meaning in their daily lives, and increase their opportunities to approach studies or work. You will be part of a team with coordinators, practical coordinators, and coaches.

Your work as a curator is varied. You offer curative support conversations to young people who need strengthening discussions. The conversations may address mental health, self-esteem, identity, and other issues important for the individual's well-being. You support the young people in their needs and guide them to other actors if you assess that interventions of a more therapeutic nature are necessary.

You are responsible for a number of young people, focusing on those with mental health issues or psychosocial problems, and serve as a coordinating function for the youth. You provide support and assistance based on the youth's needs, map the situation, establish action plans, follow up on interventions, and document the process. The methods Supported Education and BIP/Create are used in the work.

You initiate, plan, and lead group activities that create meaningful contexts, strengthen the youth's health, and promote community and skills. The activities are designed based on the youth's needs and interests.

Other Tasks:

  • Coordinate support measures together with colleagues within the team.
  • Participate in outreach work and meet young people in their environments.
  • Build and maintain collaboration with external actors such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, and schools.
  • Contribute to the development of operations within KAA and Navet.

The work is carried out both individually and in teams and requires independence, the ability to create trusting relationships, and great flexibility. The team meets young people and partners in various places, including internships, schools, social services, employment agencies, the municipality's meeting places for young people, or in the youth's local area, where home visits are also part of the work.

Your Experience

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or other relevant education in behavioral sciences. Further education in CBT, DBT, or other conversation methodologies is an advantage. Experience with motivational interviewing (MI) is also an advantage.
